Dr. Lawrence T. Force, Ph.D., LCSW-R, a Gerontologist,
is the founder of AgePlan Social Work Advocacy Services,
P.C. , an advocacy and training network that promotes an
understanding of successful aging across the lifespan. Dr.
Force has worked in the field of aging and developmental
disabilities for over 25 years as a practitioner, academician,
administrator, and researcher in both the public and private
sector.
Dr. Force is a nationally recognized leader in the area
of end-of-life care for people with developmental disabilities.
He is a co-author of the End-of
Life Care: A Guide for Supporting Older People with Intellectual
Disabilities and their Families.
In addition, he has authored and collaborated on articles,
chapters, monographs and technical reports that address
topics of developmental models of aging, life-long disabilities,
adult day health services, Alzheimer's disease, grief therapy
for individuals with cognitive impairment and family caregiving.
Dr. Force completed his graduate training in Psychology
at the New School for Social Research and holds a doctorate
in Social Welfare from the Rockefeller College of Public
Affairs and Policy at SUNY/Albany.
Dr. Force was sponsored as a Summer Institute Fellow at
the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and the RAND Corporation
and has presented his work at national and international
conferences.
